Steel strand is an iron and steel product composed of several steel wires, which can be divided into prestressed steel strand, unbonded steel strand, galvanized steel strand and so on. Galvanized layer, zinc-aluminum alloy layer, aluminum clad layer, copper clad layer, epoxy coated layer, etc. can be added to the surface of carbon steel as required.

Steel strands are divided into prestressed steel strands, unbonded steel strands, galvanized steel strands, etc. Different steel strands have different performance characteristics, please refer to the reference documents. The most commonly used steel strands are galvanized steel strands and prestressed steel strands. The diameter of the commonly used prestressed steel strands ranges from 9.53 mm to 17.8 mm, and there are a few thicker steel strands. Generally, there are 7 steel wires in each prestressed steel strand, and there are also 2, 3 and 19 steel wires, which can be provided with metal or nonmetal anticorrosive coating. Coated with anticorrosive grease or paraffin wax and coated with HDPE is called unbonded prestressed steel strand
Galvanized steel strand is usually used for load-bearing cables, stay wires, reinforcing cores, etc. It can also be used as ground wire for overhead transmission, blocking cables on both sides of highways or structural cables in building structures. Commonly used prestressed steel strands are uncoated low relaxation prestressed steel strands and galvanized ones, which are commonly used in bridges, buildings, water conservancy, energy and geotechnical engineering, etc. Unbonded prestressed steel strands are often used in floor and foundation engineering, etc.
